SEARCH CONDUCTED IN WESTERN JEFFERSON COUNTY
FOR MISSING LEWIS COUNTY MAN

The Jefferson County Sheriff?s Office and several members from Search and Rescue organizations in Jefferson, Kitsap, Grays Harbor and Clallam counties, conducted a search on Wednesday March 09th in the Graves Creek area of Lake Quinault in Western Jefferson County for a missing Lewis County man.
Delmar W. Sample, 53 of Onalaska Washington was reported missing on Tuesday March 8th by co-workers from his place of employment in the city of Chehalis Washington, after failing to report to work for the second day in a row. Tuesday late afternoon, Mr. Sample's 1992 Ford R-10 pickup was found parked in a roadside pullout on South Shore Rd in Western Jefferson County. The truck was locked with no information found inside the vehicle to help determine the Mr. Sample's whereabouts. There was also nothing inside the truck to indicate suspicious circumstances. According to Sample's co-workers who know him well, said that by not reporting to work, or maintaining contact with family members is out of character for him. Sample had told co-workers on Thursday that he was planning a short trip to Tillamook Oregon, but when his vehicle turned up in Jefferson County, the co-workers told investigators that this was not unusual, that Sample was known for changing his plans at a moments notice. Sample is known by co-workers to be very dependable and had been overheard recently making future plans of doing work around his home. So, there was no indication that he had any desire to simply disappear.
On Wednesday morning at 8:30 AM, a search and rescue effort was launched by the Jefferson County Sheriff that included over 35 searchers and two search dogs. By the end of the day however, the search had covered more than 5 square miles without uncovering any additional information as to where Sample might have gone. Search efforts are continuing with the additional use of a helicopter to fly over the entire area.
The Lewis County Sheriff's Office is the lead agency investigating the disappearance of Mr. Sample. The Jefferson County and Lewis County Sheriff's asks that if anyone has any information as to the whereabouts of Mr. Sample is asked to call
